Funding cohesion.

Funding cohesion.

Non-plumbing consumer facing projects often have more than one dev.

If we want FOSS customer facing applications, we need to fund them as a team. Dev(s)+Front_ppl, that front end maybe include designer, front end dev, ux person, etc...

Tacking on a designer later keeps things as shitty as they are now.

Many/most devs would love to defer the front of the house to a front of the house person. But not later when he did all the work and a non-technical designer comes and tells him to change everything.

Startups with the best user experience win because they have a tight team from the beginning.

Cisco sucks because they have. Design department vs dev department.

FOSS suffers from this syndrome and attracts the wrong resources at the wrong time.

Funding orgs amplify this by not encouraging teams vs individuals.

The goal is not "more" FOSS stuff, it's more FOSS stuff that gets USED.

We need more designers to work…
